The League has a rich history in both its grounds and it players, Harrogate and Abbeydale Park were both regular venues for first class cricket, and North Marine Road, home of Scarborough CC, is one of the best loved grounds among both players and spectators. The venue also hosts the League's YPLT20 Finals Day. Several of the grounds also regularly host Second XI County matches.

The League has also nurtured the talent of several players who have gone onto reach the very top of the cricketing ladder, most recently of note Gary Ballance (Barnsley) and Joe Root (Sheffield Collegiate).
